Three Colours: White

The colour of equality, a term that takes on especially wry dimensions when Karol, a Polish immigrant, is plunged into humiliation, destitution and non-citizenship by his divorce from his Parisian wife, Dominique. From this abyss, nevertheless, he ascends by a series of unlikely connections and complex and generally nefarious scenarios that take him back to Poland into a life of itinerant criminality, out-scheming the schemers. From dire poverty he rises to incredible wealth. But then, his thoughts turn to the woman who left him behind... And white turns black.
